About
We are a non-profit organization that primarily provides advanced care for cats and dogs in need of medical assistance, and specializes in cases of neglect and cruelty.
Mission Mayday's primary missions are to educate the public about animal welfare and to rescue animals in need, like Mayday.
As we have no physical shelter, everything is managed remotely by a team of dedicated volunteers, many of whom have experience in clinics and emergency centres.

- To promote the importance of sterilization to reduce pet overpopulation
- To educate the public on the importance of responsible pet care
When do we accept medical aid in dying?
When an animal will not be able to have a good quality of life in the long term, we stop before over-zealous treatment.
Our mission is to provide medical assistance to animals in need, which, in most cases, will mean giving them one last chance.
What care do we provide?
That’s quite simple; Mission Mayday’s dogs and cats will receive the same care as if they were our own pets. We will do everything we can to give them a fresh start, or a happy ending with their families.
Board of Directors
Mission Mayday is composed of three board members, all of whom have backgrounds in animal rescue and/or animal health. The members of our administrative committee have remained the same since our founding, providing a strong foundation for the organization during its early stages in a challenging field.

Mélanie Dubuc, President
Mélanie has gained extensive experience in animal health and rescue since joining the field. She also volunteers for two organizations and works in a shelter.
She's our professional trapper! Mélanie has rescued many street cats, providing them with care until they were ready to join a family. She welcomes into her home the most unsocialized and injured stray cats.
Without her, many of them would have died due to the lack of experienced foster homes to care for them. She has also cared for numerous dogs in her home.

Mégane Bigot de La Touanne, treasurer
Mégane is the one behind 90% of our communications. She manages the website, fundraising, adoptions, and accounting departments.
In 2015, she co-founded Protection Pit Bulls, which she ran for several years until it became too demanding. The organization grew quickly, and the human aspect became increasingly difficult to manage. During her time rescuing Pit Bull–type dogs, she met Mélanie.
Mégane later volunteered for several organizations and rescues, continuing to foster animals. She contributed to the founding of some of them, as well as to two care programs managed by veterinary clinics, before launching Mission Mayday.

Charlotte Boucher-Beaulieu, Vice President
Charlotte began getting involved in animal welfare in her late teens by helping with maintenance work at a cat shelter. She’s always wanted to help and save animals since she was a little girl.
She worked very hard to complete her veterinary technician training and graduated in 2018. However, even while working in a veterinary clinic, she felt the need to be more useful.
She met Mélanie and Mégane while volunteering with an organization, where she took part in meaningful projects and grew not only as a technician, but also as a person.

Our activities rely 100% on our volunteers, who dedicate themselves 7 days a week to rescuing and caring for animals in distress. We cover the Greater Montreal area, as well as the St-Hyacinthe and St-Jean-sur-Richelieu regions.
We are a virtual shelter, which means we don't have a building in which we take in animals. They are cared for by foster families at our expense, until they are ready for adoption. Visiting our dogs and cats is therefore not possible.
We rely on financial support from the public and local businesses to fund our rescues. Our fundraisers enable us to help each animal individually, and general donations enable us to cover the rest of the bills.
We work with a number of veterinary clinics, which offer us between 10% and 30% discount on the care of our protégés. We also go to referral centres for emergencies, and consult specialists for the most complex cases.
How do we operate?
Our programs
This program enables passengers with a condition that is easy and quick to treat to be adopted quickly, before the end of their basic care and/or follow-up for their condition. Families are supported by the organization while the animal’s care is completed, but they have the chance from the beginning to contribute to the recovery of their future family member.
Passport for life
1
As part of our partnership with the organization Chiots Nordiques, we take in dogs and cats from remote communities for care and/or adoption.
Supporting indigenous communities
3
Many of our passengers have zero adoption potential. We cover all their needs with the help of their virtual adopters, who make a monthly donation. To help one of these animals, click here.

Special rescues
We take in animals who come from situations of neglect and abuse, to keep them from being euthanized. Their past history and origin will always remain confidential to ensure their safety.
