About me
My name is M. Patate, and I’m looking for my forever family! I’m a medium-sized mixed-breed dog weighing around 15 kg. I have a unique feature—I may have some hairless breed in my lineage, as there are areas where I don’t have any fur! I’m a real sweetheart at home. I love to snuggle, sleep in bed with my humans or on the couch, and enjoy quiet moments. I don’t need much exercise because, as my name suggests, I’m a true couch potato! I’m also not destructive.
I was taken in by Mission Mayday to treat my cherry eye and my cervical disc herniation, as well as to remove a small benign mass. I had surgery to correct everything, so I’ve been very lucky! Now I’m feeling much better and getting back to a happy little routine.
On leash, I generally walk well, but sometimes I may bark at certain men or certain dogs. It’s not with everyone, and it can sometimes be hard to predict when I might react. I’m a bit fearful around men. I may give a quick warning snap if I get too overwhelmed, so it’s best to redirect me to a bone or a toy during those moments. Oh—and one small flaw: I’m a professional food thief. I’ll seize any opportunity and beg while you’re eating, even though I’ve never been given table scraps (but I still live in hope!).
I’m not the type to run away, and I’m very comfortable during car rides. I’d be happy to accompany my family on calm activities, because what I love most is simply being with my people. I’m sure many people would love for me to become their pup, but I do need someone who can truly meet my needs so everything goes smoothly.
When I first arrived in foster care, I struggled with some behavioral challenges and now take medication (around $50/month) to help me feel more at ease. I used to have pretty intense separation anxiety, but with time, patience, and support, I’ve made real progress. Still, I’m hoping to find someone who’s around a lot, because being alone is tough for me.
New people can be a bit overwhelming—especially men—so I’m looking for a calm, understanding home with someone who can read my cues and help me navigate those moments safely. The good news? I’ve got so much potential to grow with the right person by my side.
With gentleness, patience, and understanding, I'll become an incredible companion!
Cats
I do well with cats and could happily have a feline friend.
Dogs
I have to admit that I’m selective with other dogs: sometimes I like them, and sometimes I react to them.
Other pets
With proper supervision and guidance, I believe living with small animals could be possible.
Kids
I can live with children aged 8 and up, as I’m not comfortable with younger kids.
